BDA Concept Boutique

Posted in Fashionista » by Dena Collins :: June 30, 2009

bda1Celluloid nostalgia, 80’s parties and sublime cocktails, BDA is not your average vintage store.

Fascinated by silver screen icons such as Marilyn, Gabor or Bergman, Bastien de Almeida brings old West Coast glamour to Paris. Described as a modern-day dandy, Bastien’s obsession with Hollywood has manifested itself in this glossy, dark, neon-lit boutique offering exclusive lines in luxury vintage.

The stylish owner carefully selects his garments, ensuring each one takes on some of those old-school rules of glamour and flatter the wearer in all the right places. Bastien regularly flies out to Los Angeles bringing back exceptional finds that make his boutique so unique.

bda3All eras are celebrated in the store, taking the collections up to the 80s, with noted labels including Sonia Rykiel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Thierry Mugler and Balenciaga. Check out the eye catching colours and fabrics featured in the chiffon gowns, beaded cocktail dresses and mink stoles. You’re sure to be tempted by the high quality fabrics and rare, yet ‘in vogue’ prints at very reasonable prices, starting at about €60.

Alongside his impressive collection of vintage clothing and accessories there is a music hall for those dressing up and cocktail parties. Don’t miss the collaborative section  of the boutique with Sylvain Maury presenting a selection of hard to find, collectible books and movies focusing on the fashion world.

For those wanting to brush up on their dressmaking skills, Bastien offers courses for small groups of five or six people where you can receive lessons in couture, draping, pattern making and sewing. It’s all happening at BDA.

Dena is a fashion and trend writer based in London. She studied fashion journalism and trend forecasting at St. Martins and has a super-human thirst for style. She can tell you what you’ll be wearing in 2020, (well almost) and has a slightly unnerving penchant for Japanese design and especially loves her Kid Robot vinyl toys. The world of new and innovative designers excites her and the mundane and lazy bore her. When she’s not buried neck high in an avalanche of fashion magazines she likes to channel various style muses and lap up the obvious comments that come her way.
