Berkeley Square: A Beautiful British Brand
“A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square”, goes the song popularised by Vera Lynn. Both the song and the square conjure up images of a very British era. A time of refinement and style, when ladies dressed for dinner and gentlemen opened doors and always carried a handkerchief. The Berkeley Square Cosmetics Company offers two ranges of indulgent luxury products for the discerning demoiselle.
The BSQ 1920 range is inspired by the elegant 1920s era and the packaging is the result of a unique partnership with the Illustrated London News. Each of the four delicate fragrances in the range is presented in pretty packaging with illustrations from prominent artists of the period, depicting chic, sophisticated high society belles in art deco style. All of the fragrances are quite light and floral without being overbearing. The Lime & Clarysage boxed soaps are the kind of gift that a society lady might have picked up as a party favour for a pal, whilst one can imagine a flirtatious girl-about-town luxuriating in a Rose Petal-scented bath before a sparkling soirée. The award-winning White Tea shea butter handcream absorbs beautifully, perfect for pampering your palms after tennis on the lawn. Our personal favourite is the seductive Fig & Cherry perfume; a spritz behind the ears is bound to persuade any dapper young gent to ask you for the next dance.
Berkeley Square’s Natural Couture range features three ultra feminine fragrances, White Bergamot, White Amber and White Muguet. John French’s black and white fashion photographs of the golden age of couture, the 1950s and 1960s, perfectly complement the products and make for some seriously desirable packaging. The range includes bath products, body lotions and butters, soaps, hand and nail cream and perfume. And when they say ‘natural’, they mean it; none of the products contain parabens, harsh preservatives or artificial colouring. And if that weren’t enough, Bsq’s Natural Couture fragrance recently won the Silver Award at the UK Beauty Awards 2009. For a hint of British elegance in your boudoir, or if you’re looking for the perfect gift for the hostess of your weekend away with the country set, take a stroll through Berkeley Square!
You can buy all of the products on the Bsq. website or for stockists see here.
