The fashion pack's latest obsession

Who is she?

Imogen Belfield is the jewellery designer topping industry insiders’ wish lists this very moment. Since graduating from the Sir John Cass School of Art, Media and Design at The London Metropolitan University, Belfield has created an impressive resumé. She is already highly decorated, having won recognition from the British Jewellery Association, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and South Square Trust. This July saw Belfield win ‘New Designer One Year On 2010’ and earn a nomination for the Young Accessory Designer of the Year.

With such acclaim to her name and with each piece she crafts being utterly unique, it is little wonder that the fash pack are coveting her precious designs. Taking inspiration from the world around her, Belfield creates jewellery that harbours a plethora of contradictions – ‘work that is at once beautiful and challenging, modern yet classic, bold yet subtle.’ The juxtaposition between nature and the metropolis plays a key role in the jeweller’s designs. From London’s steel and glass skyscrapers to the atmosphere, sights, sounds and colours of Spitalfields market and vibrant Brick Lane, Belfield’s hometown often provides the starting point for her designs.

The Look?

Anyone who is on the lookout for thoughtfully crafted, beautiful jewellery will be instantly drawn to Belfield’s designs.

The experimental thought process that combines nature and architecture is clear to see in Belfield’s collections – textures and methods are varied, and the resulting ring, bracelet or necklace is one of a kind. Delicate materials are captured in bubbling metal, pummelled gold and silver give way to smooth concaves. Each piece takes on what Belfield describes as an ‘organic twist’. Lovers of YSL’s Arty collection need look no further for an alternative to the now ubiquitous design. The Equilibrium collection features seemingly molten gold and silver rings with a signature bubble effect. The gold Bubble Knuckle duster and Celestial porcelain rings in particular are not to be missed.

The Buzz?

This exquisite jewellery has already graced the pages of ELLE and won a coveted spot on the Vogue.com Shopping List as well as adorning numerous models for magazine shoots. Belfield’s designs were also hand picked to be part of the Not Just A Label online store and pop up shop by none other than Lara Stone.

Where to Buy it?
