Hairspray You Can Drink?

Posted in Mirror Mirror » Brands » by :: March 24, 2009

in1Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of one of our favourite brands, Aveda, has just launched his own line of the products in the UK. Intelligent Nutrients offers a range of health and beauty products based on certified organic food-derived ingredients substances the body recognises and readily assimilates as nutrients in the body (Rechelbacher actually drank some of the hairspray on stage recently to prove this…) So what does this actually mean? And do these eco-friendly, outside-the-toxic-bubble creations actually work? We tried out the Intelligent Nutrients haircare range.

The products smell absolutely gorgeous, and we can truly believe that drinking hairspray wouldn’t necessarily be an act of madness! The whole range is made with 100% non-toxic ingredients so it would probably be less harmful to your system than your usual binge-drinking Friday night with the girls. The Hair Cleanser doesn’t contain any nasties such as parabens or sulfates, which is slightly confusing as the latter create the lather you usually get when washing your hair. However considering how squeaky clean and healthy your hair feels post-Intelligent Nutrients cleansing,  the lack of foam is something you can probably get used to. The Hair & Scalp Treatment Oil and the Conditioner are both packed with natural ingredients that nourish your crowning glory whilst being nice to the environment and small, cute animals everywhere. And Mr Rechelbacher’s tipple of choice, the (in)famous Perfect Hold Hairspray? It works! Apparently the spray is made using GUM technology. Yes, your hair is held in place using chewing gum.

Intelligent Nutrients green credentials are impeccable; the products are manufactured using renewable energy, all of the ingredients are certified organic by the UK’s Soil Association and the packaging is, of course, made from recycled plastics. Plus Horst donates all after-tax profits to environmental and social causes. All in all, using the range means caring about nature, animals, charity, the planet AND your hair!
