Into the Groove
This month’s cover story was shot by Odi Caspi, with styling by Gemma Rose Breger and make-up by Hester, featuring model Laura Paine. We found out a bit more about the people involved with the shoot.
Gemma Rose Breger – Stylist
After studying fashion at university, Gemma Rose worked in Fashion PR in New York. On moving back to London, Gemma styled for Topshop before becoming a freelance fashion stylist. She’s inspired by everything around her and takes photos or write notes of everything she sees. Gemma can’t live without her Chanel bag – her life would be over if she lost it and she talks about it as if it were a human… called Chanelo! Can she run in heels? It’s her favourite sport, and the only one she partakes in… Gemma is represented by Carol Hayes Management and you can find out more about her on her website.
Odi Caspi – Photographer
Odi is a self taught, London-based fashion photographer and shoots a mixture of editorial and commercial work. He’s inspired by creativity, vision and inner and outer beauty and couldn’t live without music – currently listening to Dan Glendining, Boards of Canada and Black Keys. His favourite films are Le grand bleu and Blade Runner, and he’d take Sante d’Orazio’s Private View to a desert island. His passion lies in shooting raw images that capture a moment a feeling or a mood. You can see more of Odi’s work on his website.
Hester – Make-up Artist
Born and raised in the Netherlands, Hester worked as a makeup artist in Amsterdam for a few years, before moving to London six years ago. For Hester, anything can trigger a new idea – people you see walking down the street; the colour of a leaf; an advert you see in passing; raindrops on the window or perhaps a sentence in a book. She absolutely couldn’t live without tinted moisturiser and blusher and dreams of buying a beautiful country house where she could open her very own spa. Hester is represented by Era Management, where you can see her portfolio, or for backstage photos and videos, check out her blog.
Laura Paine – Model
Laura is inspired by the lively and colourful culture in South America, where she spent lots of time when she was growing up, although her grandma has also been a source of inspiration – she modelled hats in Tatler and Vogue in 1928! The huge amounts of apathy and excessive negativity in British society at the moment annoy her and five years hence she’d like to be working in a theatre in New York. Her favourite movie is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and right now she can’t get enough of cookery programmes! You can see Laura’s portfolio online here.
