Who is she?

Australian-born Kelly Love has been based in London since 2008. After spending time in Japan working with designer Sin Nakayamal, Kelly returned to Australia to study at Raffles Institute of Design in Sydney. Having completed her studies, Kelly entered the world of couture with a job at luxury bridalwear label Baccini and Hill where she developed a taste for fine fabrics and high-precision tailoring. She channelled this passion in her “Beautiful Side of Everything” collection, which she launched at the New Generations show at Australian Fashion Week in 2007.

The Look?

Vintage femininity and romantic glamour. The label is known for its elegant jumpsuits, which have featured in each collection to date. Love’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection ‘Into the Woods’ takes you on a journey of love and loss interwoven with rich colours and sumptuous textures. Silk and lace combine to create delicate silhouettes, which gently envelope the female form. High-waisted cigarette pants enhance curves with folds of soft material, something that is echoed in the dropped waists of dresses and the subtle peplum of an elegant sleeveless blouse. A forties feel is created by exaggerated fur collars, while midi dresses seem to have walked right out of a Russian folk tale; deep reds and blues are complemented by abstract prints tinged with neon hues.

For Spring/Summer 2013, Love’s ‘This Idyllic Hour’ collection is unashamedly feminine, given a contemporary edge thanks to a modern, bold colour palette of buttermilk, navy, fuschia and buttercup yellow. Floral prints adorn tailored jackets and tea dresses, while plissé pleats add a genteel elegance to demure skirts and blouses. Love’s inspiration? “This Idyllic Hour explores the love that we have for each other, the cities that we live in and how everything shapes us to be the people that we are. The Idyllic Hour is inspired by all that is around us and all that we are.”
