Liberty & Hermes

hermes libertyTake one very cool department store with just the right amounts of fashion forward styling and traditional British elegance. Add one ultra chic and totally desirable French brand. What happens when these two icons meet? Why, a Liberty’s/Hermès collaboration of course!

Available instore from today, the iconic brands have created six exquisite scarves which will have fashionistas falling over each other to get their mitts on one of these pieces of design history. Available in two sizes, the I-Want-One-Of-Those accessories are made with Liberty’s Tana Lawn cottons printed with Hermès’ ‘Ex Libris’ design. The ditsy florals trend might be over, but Liberty’s pretty micro floral prints are perennially fashionable and very much outside the whims of catwalk decrees on what’s in.

Creative director of Hermès silk, Bali Barret, said of the collaboration: “For us Parisians, Liberty is the British icon. The idea for the collaboration was to create a fifty percent Hermès and fifty percent Liberty scarf in order to make a one hundred percent truly exciting hybrid collection of scarves and ties. Choosing to print our famous Ex libris on to the famous Liberty Tana Lawn classic flower print was the perfect solution”

The Hermès pop-up boutique, a dedicated space instore, promises to take even the most serious shoppers back to their childhood days. Your mother would certainly never have let you near her Hermès accessories, but with the space styled as a dressing up box, customers will be allowed (finally!) to play with these iconic scarves, with stylists and photographers on hand to advise and create a permanent record of the luxe looks. There will be a weekly programme of events in the Scarf Room, so pop along and find out how something as simple as a scarf can update your style instantly. If you’re looking for a fashionable gift for the man in your life, a Hermès/Liberty tie would be the perfect addition to any wardrobe. And if he’s not wearing it everyday, you can always “borrow” and create a stylish belt/hairband/handbag accessory!

The scarves are available to buy online here, and check the Liberty blog for more details on coming events.
