It’s Been a Long, Cold Winter (Without You)
This month’s cover story was shot by Lettresalou. We found out a bit more about the people involved with the shoot…
Lettresalou – Photographer
Having worked in fine arts and exhibited her work internationally, Lettresalou now embraces fashion – wahoo! Stay tuned for some blogs going live and more editorials being published. She has been interviewed recently too, so if you find yourself currently bored you can read all about her online here. Basically, she lives on spinach which she gets every Saturday from her local Farmers’ Market (her life inspiration was always Popeye the Sailor). She couldn’t live without falling and being in love (and Kubrick’s 2001: Space Odyssey it seems, as she has watched it 13 [sic!] times already, she claims not to be mad, yet). As she doesn’t do bars, you’re more likely to find her wandering across the Yorkshire Moors, where she might end up living for good with her hubby in a nice tucked away cottage. For now she enjoys London (of course) and has only one complaint: she can’t get her dream Jaguar XJS (3.6, manual, in grey – she added) as it’s too big to drive comfortably around all these London streets. Ah, and most importantly: she doesn’t run in heels, but hey, she regularly walks her whippet in lovely nude Chanel heels; now, how cool is that? More of Lettresalou’s work here, plus you can become a fan here. She’s really quite cool, so we say: do it and do it now!)
Anne Hanson – Make-up Artist
Anne freelances on shoots and shows, works part time at a hair salon and would love to get into the music industry more, particularly working on video shoots and other music-related projects. The very accomplished Anne trained in Sweden at Makeupstudion, and also studied communication and psychology. She loves music (mainly 50s and 60s funk and soul, which is real music, if you ask her!) and dreams of buying a house in the country in the south of Sweden. Anne’s mind works better when she’s travelling or creating thing with her hands and socialising is important to her as she gets inspired by talking to people she meets and trying to see things from different perspectives. Anne reckons that the biggest problems in society at the moment are the lack of communication, the egotism and that people are afraid – all of which are connected. Anne loves smart films with unexpected endings, such as The Usual Suspects or The Game, however unfortunately you can only watch those movies once… Can Anne run in heels? Hell, yeah! Thom Humphris – Fashion Designer
Thom graduated with first class honours from the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester and has interned with fashion visionary Alexander McQueen and high street favourites All Saints. He is currently working happily at Burberry. Thom thinks that fashion in terms of design is always rooted in contrast between something organic and something systematic (or man-made, whether it be nature’s destruction of buildings or vice versa). On the other hand, fashion in terms of dressing one’s self is a chaotic matter of diving into the wardrobe and seeing what appeals that day, there is no plan! Thom couldn’t live without his family and feels very inspired by his mother and his nan who sadly passed away just before he decided to go into menswear. Due to student debt, Thom considers shopping a bit of a luxury for the moment, so he contents himself with voyeurism at Dover Street Market. Five years from now, Thom will either be shaking his thang go-go dancing in Malibu or working his way up the ranks of an established company. Watch this space! Check out Thom’s work online here.
Adrian Eric Morales – Jewellery Designer
Adrian studied fashion design and marketing and is inspired by travelling, people’s everyday lives, Dover Street Market and vintage fashion. He generally shops at markets such as Portobello and Brick Lane in London, although his dream puchase would be a vineyard over the channel in France. Adrian’s currently listening to The XX and couldn’t live without his sunglasses. If he could only take one book to a desert island, it would have to be one with lots of pictures! Five years from now he’d like to have his own design studio and be making interesting pieces for the world. Adrian could probably try to run in heels. Perhaps! Find out more about Adrian’s work online here and don’t miss his super stylish blog.
Peter Zaar – Model
Peter’s look is all about mixing high street and designer, so he shops everywhere from Topman to Gucci! He’s someone who lives in the moment, without fear – life is too short to have regrets after all. His favourite place to hang out in London is Quintessentially Soho at The House of St. Barnabas; a charitable pop-up members only lounge where the price of food and drink goes to help the homeless. Peter’s family is really important to him and he would love to buy an island somewhere warm, move there with all of his friends and loved ones and live la dolce vita for the rest of his days! With Vogue (his personal bible), to read of course. Check out Peter’s portfolio online here.
