This month’s cover story was shot by Ilaria Gambi. We found out a bit more about the people involved with the shoot…
Ilaria Gambi – Photographer and Stylist
Ilaria completed her MA in Fashion Photography at LCF in February, and has recently launched ALILA MAG, a new bimonthly online fashion magazine. She is currently shooting as much as she can to expand her portfolio and find an agent. Ilaria is inspired by big cities and by magazines such as Lula, Dazed & Confused and I-D. In five years she’d like to be running her own magazine, shooting for other fashion magazines and sharing a studio with other talented photographers. Favourite films include Everything is Illuminated and Amélie, and she’d be happy reading anything by Nick Hornby. Ilaria loves travelling and the last place she visited was Istanbul. When in London, she’s a fan of Prague Café and The Book Club. Ilaria can barely walk in heels, never mind running in them! You can see more of Ilaria’s work on her website.
Krystle Gohel – Make-up Artist
Krystle has a diploma in Make-up and Hair Styling and has also studied New Media Design, Fashion Marketing and Art & Design. Recent work has included shoots for Wella, Bacardi and various magazine editorials as well as make-up for the Clothes Show London 2010. Krystle is currently listening to The XX, David Bowie, and Phoenix and couldn’t live without eyelash curlers and vaseline! Sources of inspiration include London, Japanese kids and love, passion and adventure. Five years from now, she’d like to be creating innovative, beautiful looks for the top fashion magazines and possibly launching her own make-up brand. If she had to take one book to a desert island, it would be something dark and twisted like Sadistic Serial Killers! Krystle can run in heels, but only in her nightmares. See more of Krystle’s work on her website.
Jennifer Fata – Model
A native Sicilian, Jennifer has been living in London for over a year now, and feels that the city and its multi-cultural society has really opened her mind - the different lifestyles, restaurants, people and new things to discover. She’s really inspired by the fashions that you can see on London’s streets and how people reject following what’s “in” and put together outfits that reflect their own personality and mood. Although she loves life in London, Jennifer really misses the sea and finds spending the summer here very difficult – where’s the beach?! Jennifer’s desert island book would be Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne – she loves the mathematical way the prose is written, the characterisation and reading about how wonderful our world is. Jennifer is currently learning how to walk in heels.
