mystyle
Do you have a devastating sense of style that would turn Anna Piaggi’s head or inspire John Galliano to seek you out for his next muse? Do you scrutinise the pictures on Face Hunter or The Sartorialist and think “Hmm…she has great style, I’d like to know more about her”?
Mystyle takes the snappers off the streets and puts the camera in your hands.
Name: Marta Stella
Job: Fashion journalist
Where did buy your outfit?
The shoes are from Zara, the shorts from Replay and the T-shirt is from H&M. All of the accessories are vintage.
Who or what inspires you?
Every day it’s different! I work in a fashion magazine, so each day I see lots of clothes, but I’m not crazy about one brand in particular. I always look at style blogs and magazines like Muse, Purple, Dazed, Flair and Marie Claire. I like to wear an eccentric mix that combines new clothes with vintage pieces, big brands with old-fashioned details and always amazing shoes. Strictly with heels.
Where do you shop?
I shop at Zara and H&M as well as designer stores. I prefer boutiques with cool, lesser-known brands and also special vintage shops. There’s a beautiful shop I love in Milan called “i Studio”, that has lots of cool, unusual brands, especially from the North – I really like this style.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I’m absolutely in love with a song by I AM X, called “Spit It Out”
Dream purchase?
A wooden house in the snow – somewhere for a quiet life writing after years of Fashion Weeks!
Favourite bar, and why?
My favourite bar in Milano is “Tasca”, a cool place with wooden furniture and a lot of good wines.
Desert island book?
“The Unbearable Lightness of Being”, by Milan Kundera
Where’s the last place you visited?
The last place I visited is Oslo. I loved this city – the mood and the atmosphere. Chilled out breakfasts, great deco and fantastic shopping – clothes by Acne, Marlene Birgen, Whyred and others brands that I like.
Do you think you are cool?
I think being fashionable is a mood, a lifestyle, a way of saying something that encompasses far more than the simple appearance tied to what one wears. I wear clothes and live the fashion like something is always moving, something made up of those particles, splashing ideas from different parts of the world. I think I’m cool in this way, mixing different ideas and styles, taking inspiration from different countries, different backgrounds and different sources.
Can you run in heels?
I’m always late! In everyday life as well as for the fashion shows! So yes, I always run in heels!
