mystyle
Do you have a devastating sense of style that would turn Anna Piaggi’s head or inspire John Galliano to seek you out for his next muse? Do you scrutinise the pictures on Face Hunter or The Sartorialist and think “Hmm…she has great style, I’d like to know more about her”?
Mystyle takes the snappers off the streets and puts the camera in your hands.
Job: Props Stylist & Comedian (part of double act Slow Country)
Where did you buy your outfit?
Well the Pompom Mini Mouse ears are ones I made for a circus shoot, I’m actually wearing them out this evening for a hen night. I’m not telling you where the dress is from because… I’m not!
Who or what inspires you?
Loads of things; because I work as a stylist there is always demand for me to come up with new ideas. Anything that makes me laugh is a good start, comedy, people on the street, children’s fairytales: I find when I am devoid of ideas a quick read of ‘Shockheaded Peter’ by Dr Henirich Hoffman turns the light switch on again!
Where do you shop?
Everywhere! It’s a major part of my job I have to be a “yes I know where to get that from” lady. I think one of the strangest things I have been requested to buy was “a cherry wood Native American symbol of life beaver”. It was for a comedy show and I had one day to source it! We had to end up getting it made which cost a fortune, bloody comedians!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Well this is where I act cool and say Florence and the Machine (who incidentally is way younger but went to the same school as me) or Dega Breaks…. but to be honest whatever is on my husbands Ipod, he’s the music buff!
Dream purchase?
Well… it would be purchases… I would like to own Claridges, Liberty, Conde Nast, my own Production Company and a small monkey called Jim – that’s for my mother in law.
Favourite bar, and why?
Technically it’s not a bar but a place an alcoholic drink can be consumed. A few years ago when my husband proposed we were at the V&A. It was a chilly October evening and he arranged for us (with the wonderful staff) to go out to the courtyard and drink a bottle of champagne to celebrate. The fountains were on and the lights glistening as we sipped from plastic cups! It was the best bar I have ever been to.
Desert island book?
I have just bought the most amazing Alice in Wonderland pop up book which I could stare at for hours.
Where’s the last place you visited?
Sainsbury’s.
Do you think you are cool?
Is that cool with a K? Yes? If yes, then yes.
Can you run in heels?
Metaphorically: Yes of course I think women can achieve anything if the put their minds to it… In reality: no! My feet are so damaged at the moment from mis-use; my heels are purely for getting in and out of the car and then collapsing at the table in pain!
