Onedotzero_adventures in motion – London

A live audiovisual performance from Dark Fibre
The critically acclaimed audio-visual festival onedotzero_adventures in motion will return to the British Film Institute, London from tomorrow. At twelve years old, the festival is considered the world’s most innovative, showcasing a broad range of work from up-and-coming talents and old hands alike.
Onedotzero_adventures in motion boasts an extensive and varied bill, with programmes incorporating digital animation, motion graphics, experimental shorts and music video. Thousands of enthusiasts will pass through the BFI’s doors this year to view productions including dark fibre, an evening of live audiovisual performance, and attend a range of workshops. From Nokia: the art of open source; showcasing the development potential of the Maemo platoform to glue London: Interactive in Design Workshop; set to reveal the workings of production, design and development for interactive platforms, the festival provides a tailored creative curriculum.
Designed to reach beyond the practising audiovisual community, onedotzero_adventures in motion will attract a cross section of ages, interests and audiovisual acumen. Since 1997 when the first onedotzero festival was an underground hit at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London, the festival has established itself in 60 cities worldwide, its appeal has broadened and its programme has responded accordingly. Panel discussions including onedotzero: City Interventionists exploring the new dynamic and tensions between public and private space are liveliest when comment comes from the range of perspectives found in a diverse audience.
Fashion enthusiasts will be entertained by onedotzero: Dazed & Confused presents: Fashion in Film, a showcase of the most avant-garde and exciting films from the fashion world, while music aficionados will appreciate onedotzero: wavelength 09 and j-star 09, promoting the latest music videos and motion graphics from Japan.
Onedotzero_adventures in motion is huge in its scope. New cinematic expressions in short film, sensory installations and innovative education projects are set among parties and lounge events, many of which are free of charge. This week the BFI, Southbank is definitely worth a visit and for a reason better than the river views and designer coffee synonymous with its location.
