Running in Heels: Liv Lundelius – fashion designer
Liv Lundelius spent the first five years of her life travelling through Southern Europe in a camper van with her bohemian mother. Her father owns a punk disco club. Not a typical German childhood!
Aged 18, she moved to Berlin and studied fashion. After graduation Liv went to New York and spent one season working with ThreeAsFour.
She came back to Berlin with the vision for her own label Blushless. Liv has always been a vegetarian and maintained a sustainable lifestyle, so these were important values for Blushless.
Liv was inspired by David Lynch’s road move “Wild at Heart” for her debut collection. Liv says “I believe in a happy ending, but in between, this whole world is wild at heart and weird on top”. Made with a “Wild at Heart” girl in mind, Liv’s dresses are anything but the usual voluminous froufrou gowns or classic white columns most brides choose. Made for modern princesses, the collection uses the softest vegan leather and slinky fairtrade silks. Expect the unexpected – old-fashioned hand-stitching, ripped tulle, sheer elements and leather belts – each piece is individual and different.

What do you think is the biggest problem in German society today and what is the most positive thing?
Fear! The biggest problem is that people are not just happy and thankful for what they have got. The German society has learnt to be open in many ways: culturally and intellectually …
Do you feel German or European?
I feel like an alien from a different planet, but if you want me to decide, I would say more European, because it gives more options and includes Germany! My father is Dutch, the mother’s family is from Scandinavia and when I was little I was traveling through southern Europe with my Mum.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
The Kills, Kings of Leon, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, Santogold, Daft Punk, Soulwax and Fan Death.
What couldn’t you live without?
Fruit and Coffee
Dream purchase?
A swimming pool and Cleaning-La…uhm..Cleaning-Gentleman!
Favourite movie?
The Science of Sleep and Wild At Heart
Favourite European city and why?
NYC because its like all the European cities in one place and more!
Desert island book?
Oh my god, desert island?! I wouldn’t read, I would try to find a way back.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Back in New York working in a nice studio, expanding my label, adding new lines, surrounded by good people. Having a good time. Being Liv. Travelling!
Can you run in heels?
I do – all the time!
