Snap, Crackle and Pop

Posted in Big Feature Box » by :: September 28, 2009

This month’s cover story was shot by George Garnier using Marina Guergova’s sublime collection of clothes. We found out a bit more about the people involved with the shoot…

George Garnier – Photographer

george garnieGeorge graduated from Central Saint Martin’s College in 2008 and now works from his studio in South East London. George has snapped some famous faces including Tony Blair and Paul Smith, this may be why he says that he is inspired by people who get things done! George’s dream purchase would be a boat with a large garden, two sheep, eight chickens and a roof with solar panels and in a perfect world he would be shopping at Savile Row. For the moment he is making do with nice shorts. His desert island read would be the longest book in the world, Marienbad My Love. George obviously cannot run in heels as he is a guy. More of George’s work can be seen at www.georgegarnier.com

Marina Guergova – Designer/Stylist

The amazing clothes used for the Snap, Crackle and Pop shoot were designed and styled by Marina Guergova, who also studied at Central Saint Martin’s College. Personal inspirations come from Bulgarian traditional dress and architecture, such as the Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado, which inspired the patchwork orientation within the current collection “Sheer Geometrics” s/s 2010. In terms of fashion, Marina is inspired by elegance and the great women of the past. Her favourite bar is the 606 Jazz Club although she’s currently listening to Santogold, CAN and the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. To see more of Marina’s beautiful designs see www.marinaguergova.com

Diane Bessesen – Hair and Make-updiane

A native of South Africa, when it comes to cultural inspiration, Diane is inspired by a mish-mash of different cultures – like her country! Diane tries to keep up with trends, and loves classic pieces combined with a pop of colour. The King of Pop may have passed away, but Diane is still moonwalking along to his tracks and is a big fan of another 80s phenomenon – the film Cocktail. She prefers to drink cocktails at B@1 in Clapham, but she’s not a city girl at heart – her dream buy would be a farm with horses and lots of animals. However she can definitely run in heels! Diane is represented by the Artistic License Agency.

Chloe Lewtas – Model

Chloe is inspired by designer labels, magazines and celebrities, although she looks to the high street when it comes to shopping. At the moment she would find it impossible to live without her Blackberry and a copy of the London A-Z. In five years she’d like to be successful and enjoying life, preferably from a villa in the Caribbean listening to Paolo Nutini and reading Twilight. Chloe cannot run in heels and wonders who can! Chloe is represented by Boss Model Management and Nevs Model Management.

Running in Heels wishes to thank the Mayor Gallery in London’s Cork Street for kindly lending their space for the shoot.
