LBD? It’s All About The LWD

Posted in Fashionista » News » by :: April 2, 2009

whitedress1The Little Black Dress has long been a wardrobe staple and sartorial choice for its classic aesthetic and slimming properties. However students from the London College of Fashion aim to turn this belief on its head.

If you’re in London doing a spot of shopping, why not head to Carnaby Street where “The White Dress Project” is opening tomorrow?

Hosted in the LCF at Carnaby Space, “Occupying Spaces: The White Dress Project” is an exhibition directed by Judith Clark and Amy de la Haye and curated by students from the MA Fashion Curation course.

The exhibition and an accompanying series of events aim to present the LBD rival in a new light which will challenge traditional ideas on how clothes should be displayed and change perceptions of the exhibition space. Several examples of the same dress will be displayed in very different ways in the gallery – each individually styled and lit to highlight different aspects of the garment and of the display space. Visitors will have the chance to design their own LWD which will go on to be shown as part of the exhibition.

Shopping = Good. Shopping + Culture = Better!

65-67 Broadwick Street,
London W1

Open: Until April 23rd, 7 days a week, 11.00 am – 7.00 pm
Sundays close at 5.00 pm / late night Thursday until 8.00 pm)
